New year, new you

Who starts the new year with a list of resolutions? We think the best New Year’s resolutions are those which involve taking on something new, rather than giving things up. It could be trying your hand at pottery, learning a new language, signing up for a 5km run or joining a local sports team. There’s so much out there to try!

It seems like the Solos community agrees. We asked people to share their New Year’s resolutions via Facebook and some of our favourites were:

Solos has an array of holidays to help kick-start your resolution, with holidays that include golf, tennis and walking, to name just a few. Why not try something new in 2018? We hope you can join us soon!

Dancing

If Strictly Come Dancing has left your feet itching to dance, why not try one of Solos dance weekends? From learning to ballroom to perfecting other dance moves, we have weekends aimed at beginners and novices through to more experienced dancers. Try out your steps at a dinner dance weekend or at why not come to one of our balls? Our balls offer a great opportunity to dress up and meet new people. The next balls are our brand-new Valentine’s Day Ball in Leicester (17th February) or our Easter Eggstravaganza Ball in Northampton (31st March).

Tennis

Have you always wanted to play tennis? Our tennis holidays are for anyone from rusty improver to competitive player. Solos has everything from social tennis weekends in Hampshire to week-long holidays at top sports academies, such as the superb Aphrodite Hills Tennis Academy in Cyprus. Here, join a 5-day programme of organised tennis including coaching, drills and friendly matches. In addition to the tennis, guests on this Cyprus Tennis Holiday (departs 5th February) will also enjoy the hotel’s swimming pools, spa and other facilities.

Skiing

Skiing holidays are particularly social, which is why they have always been popular with Solos guests. First-time skiers and ski-pros alike will find something to suit their ski style. Our ski holidays take place in an array of resorts in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France and include popular resorts like Courchevel to lesser-known spots such as Santa Caterina. New for 2018 is a seven-night half-board holiday in Folgarida and Marilleva in the Italian Dolomites (departs 6th January), ideal for all ski levels.

Walking

We’re constantly reading of the benefits of walking, so why not kickstart this good habit on holiday? You’ll have the added benefits of good company, a tour leader and, on many of our holidays, warm weather! Our walking holidays range from UK weekends such as a new two-day walk along the Thames Path (departs 23rd March) to longer trails including the Albanian Alps (departs 5th September) and Northern Spain (departs 12th June).

Multi-activity

If your resolution is ‘to be more active’, one of Solos’ activity holidays will appeal. No previous experience is needed to try any of the activities and so it’s the perfect chance to try something new, whether it’s cycling, yoga, snowshoe walking or husky-sledding! Try as many – or as few – activities as you like on our new Alpine Adventure Week in France (departs 1st July), from cycling and hiking to rock climbing and paddle boarding. Or, join other solos aboard a traditional Greek boat for island-hopping, swimming and snorkelling around the Ionian Sea (departures June-September).

Sometimes it can be hard to fit that all-important ‘me time’ around our busy lives, which is why we believe January’s a good time to start planning the year’s travels and pencilling in time for yourself.
